Types of Homeschooling Styles

Which homeschool style are you?

Isn’t it amazing that there are different types of homeschooling styles? To be honest, everyone one of them intrigues me. I was so intrigued that I had to do the research and learn as much as I could about each of these styles when I first started to homeschool.

I just wanted to make sure I was choosing the right method for my family.

But do you know what I found? That the best way to be prepared to homeschool was making sure that I was ready to teach and lead my kids as a home educator.

Educating yourself as a home educator is very important. I didn’t quite understand this at first, but just like chemists go to school to study chemistry, and musicians practice music and know their instrument to present a good performance, so should we as the teachers of our children work on our craft- the craft of home education

Don’t let this scare you! Even if you did not go to college to become a teacher, or don’t consider yourself to be a teacher, that is okay! You can learn.

That is why I want to bring to you an easy way to learn about each of the different homeschool styles.

In this series we will cover:

  • Charlotte Mason
  • Classical Education
  • Traditional Homeschool
  • Unschooling (or Delight-Directed Learning)

And for each of these homeschooling styles, I will share with you a good chunk of resources (books, podcasts, blog posts) that will point you in the right direction to dive in deeper to each of these methods.

Homeschooling doesn’t have to look a certain way.

Your family is YOUR family. And I guarantee that one of these styles will be a good fit for you.
